Brief History: The Amery Woman’s Club (AWC) was founded in 1921. In the first few years, this nonprofit, civic-minded group was able to establish the Amery Public Library (1928). Women from Amery and the surrounding area, who are interested in volunteering their time and skill in educational and cultural projects to improve the quality of life in their communities, compose this group. Membership provides an opportunity to broaden one’s social contacts and horizons, in addition to working with colleagues on local, state, national and international projects to improve our world. The AWC continues to support the library and partner in literacy programs. Other projects include two blood drives per year, scholarships to high school students and nontraditional students who wish to further their educational opportunities, the Recycling Intiative Program, and Adopt-a-Highway project. Our club has sponsored the Amery Art and Craft Fair for almost 40 years. Just in 2014 we totaled almost 3000 volunteer hours. We are proud to be a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international organization.
Mission statement: The Amery Woman's Club is dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Members work to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic responsibility and work toward peace and understanding.
