Amherst Community Land Trust Inc

The Amherst Community Land Trust (ACLT) is a private, nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 2014 to address the shortage of affordable housing in Amherst, Massachusetts and to strengthen neighborhoods threatened by high prices and absentee ownership.  It does this by acquiring and holding property in trust.  The Trust maintains ownership of the land, which it then leases to homeowners for the long-term. This reduces the total sale price of a residential property, making home ownership affordable for low or moderate  income households.  Owners of Trust properties agree to limit equity increases, thereby making the housing affordable to future resident owners.
