Amigos de las Americas is one of the longest-running international youth leadership programs in the world. Launched in 1965, AMIGOS inspires and builds young leaders through collaborative community development and immersion in cross-cultural experiences.

Chapters all across the nation, run by volunteer board members, work with youth from local high schools to give them the tools they need to effectively collaborate with community members in countries across the Americas in order to plan and implement meangingful local service projects.

"AMIGOS changed my life - my confidence, my ability to lead, and my view of the world will never be the same. I am so grateful." Sheridan B., Silicon Valley Chapter

Program participants work with local peer recruits to design and implement community service projects that support the needs of participating communities. We give young people the responsibility and independence to manage projects,
solve problems, and navigate cultural differences.

Our strong training and support system ensures that young people are well prepared and safe during their extraordinary experience away from home. Living with host families, our program participants have an enriching cultural experience that allows them to live like a community member, not as a tourist.

We are constantly building on our 50 years of experience by adapting programs and training to meet the evolving needs of young people andcommunities across the Americas. The effective inclusion of Latin American youth in AMIGOS programs and strong community partnerships allow us to help other organizations be more impactful in their coordination of youth programs.

Together we are supporting young people to do great things!
