MISSION

Amir cultivates youth to change tomorrow. Our goal is to inspire and empower youth through the medium of farming and gardening, helping to foster a more just and compassionate world.

We are based in Richmond, VA but partner with organizations across the U.S.

Garden Kit Project

With kids and families spending more time at home and the weather warming up, there's no better time to get outside and explore the world around us!

Plant the seeds of curiosity about nature, gardens and growing your own food with Amir’s at-home garden kits. Each kit contains 4-6 seed packets, planting instructions, kid-centric activities, garden journals, magnifying glasses and bug identification cards.

The activities are all meant to be self-guided, and inspire young growers to have fun learning outdoors and away from the computer screen.

If you’re able, help us pass along this experience. Each box is worth $30, and your donation helps make gardens accessible to as many people as possible.

VISION

Amir seeks to provide garden and farm-based education to youth across the world, both at summer camps and in year-round communal spaces, and to use our sites as sources of community and regional biodiversity to not only nourish our campers, but the world around them. We will support our Farmers and participating campers as they develop into leaders in education, activism, public service, and more. We hope to expand the scope of our work to include a wide array of communities seeking justice in all that they do

Our Story

Amir was founded by friends from summer camp who understood the unique opportunity summer camps and other youth-oriented community spaces have to provide impactful social justice education. Since 2009, Amir has facilitated garden and farm-based education for thousands of youth across North America. Our greatest strength lies in “training the trainer,” using our resources available to teach our Farmers teaching techniques and stewardship skills that help passionate young adults become talented farm educators. Over the years, we have developed a model that allows any summer camp to have a beautiful, educational farm each and every summer.

As Amir moves into our next chapter, we are committed to working with all communities and listening to stories they have to share. As part of this commitment we are excited to announce the Seed Stories Project. Like the seeds that have nourished humanity for generations, our stories are one way we connect to the land and nourish our spirits. This project is about uplifting the agricultural and culinary narratives of folks whose history has been marginalized in whitewashed media. Seed Stories is in the early stages developing a podcast, digital publication and curriculum that shows connections between growers, cookers, eaters, and everyone in between.
