Special Recreation Services Inc

Our journey began in 1973. It was a time of pet rocks, bean bag chairs, and bell bottoms, when life seemed more carefree. We introduced a modest outdoor recreational program at the Clear Creek Camp near Carson City for the residents of the Nevada Mental Health Institute. The goal was simple…provide patients with opportunities to develop skills and experience life beyond their normal environment. Some people saw this as a very tall order.  We saw it as a labor of love.  We discovered when you took people with special needs and gave them ways to engage, explore, and grow like the rest of us, well, they did!

The Amplify Life legacy of serving spans an impressive 42 years. While vinyl records, mood rings, and polyester suits are considered passé, one thing that never goes out of style is compassion.  For decades we’ve been practicing it. Our programs have enhanced the quality of life for thousands of people affected by mood and neurodevelopment disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. We’ve supported their families and caregivers, providing valuable respite by creating services that contribute to the emotional, social, and physical welfare of the entire disabled family unit. 

It’s an impressive legacy and we’re just getting started!
