Andrew Mcdonough B Positive Foundation

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the life of 14-year-old Andrew who battled leukemia and sepsis before leaving us on July 14, 2007.  Andrew’s B+ blood type became the perfect message – Be Positive – to reflect how Andrew lived his life and how he inspires others to do the same. Throughout Andrew's illness, he inspired thousands of friends and families. Andrew's valiant journey was chronicled in newspapers, on television and on his website, where he and his family have received visits from over 2 million "friends" leaving messages of prayer, hope, consolation, and stories about Andrew.

The B+ Foundation

Inspired by Andrew's caring attitude and positive outlook, we established The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Our mission:

• Sponsor research to find cures for childhood cancers and advancements in chemotherapy.
• Provide financial assistance nationwide for families of children with cancer.
• Keep the B+ message alive! We like to say "It's not a grade.  It's an attitude." 

Our Success to Date

Last year alone, The B+ Foundation awarded almost $1million in research grants and financial assistance.  And Andrew's dad has given hundreds of talks about our journey, our mission, and how to B+. We think Andrew would be proud.  But we are able to do this only with the help of thousands of B+ supporters like you.  Supporters who donate their time -- by running fundraisers -- and their treasure -- by making donations.

Why is more Childhood Cancer Research Funding needed?

• Because every school day 46 children will be diagnosed with cancer.
• Because there are 12 major childhood cancers.
  
• Because only 3% of the National Cancer Institute's annual budget funds childhood cancer research.
• Because childhood cancer is responsible for killing more children and teenagers every year than any other disease
