Mission: AnewAmerica provides social and economic empowerment through a focus on socially responsible entrepreneurship, asset building, and community engagement.

Who We Serve: Founded by community development and immigrant advocates in 1999, we work with low to moderate income families, new Americans (new citizens, refugees, and immigrants), women, and communities of color.

Unique Approach: AnewAmerica builds the economic prosperity of families with a focus on our ABC’s:

Asset Building + Business Development + Community Engagement = Economic Prosperity

Through our 15-week training program combined with on-going individualized guidance over a three-year period, our programs promote:

  • Business Creation and Expansion
  • Increased Income
  • Job Creation
  • Wealth Building

Program Impact: Since 1999, AnewAmerica has provided financial education and business development services to over 25,000 individuals. To date, AnewAmerica has helped its clients start and expand 994 businesses and generate 1,292 jobs. In 2015, AnewAmerica provided 1,658 hours of business training and one-on-one counseling.

Proven Results: 68% of businesses created by AnewAmerica clients are still in business after five years, well above the national average of 46%.

In addition, AnewAmerica entrepreneurs experience an increase in assets and in net worth – helping clients break out of the cycle of poverty and the low-wage trap by building wealth for their families. Even after the Great Recession that devastated low-income, communities of color in particular, AnewAmerica clients still experienced a 9% increase in assets and an average increase of 8% in net worth.
