Since January 2008, The Animal League of Green Valley (TALGV) has found homes for more than 4,200 pets. Our current average daily population is 110 cats and 60 dogs, and we are usually able to accept or help every cat or dog that needs us. Basically, we serve the area south of Tucson down to Nogales along the Santa Cruz Valley Corridor. We use foster homes and kennel boarding when our facility is full in order to not have to turn away. Every animal receives a full check-up and all medical needs are attended to. Each day all dogs and cats in the shelter are socialized with people and other pets, all dogs are walked several times, and training and behavior issues are addressed by our volunteer staff as well as professionals.

In addition, we provide spay/neuter services, food, veterinary care, and training to an ever-increasing number of cats and dogs in the community to make it possible for them to remain in their homes. TALGV also visits senior and assisted living centers with its therapy dog program, provides classes for area students on pet responsibility and care, and assists children through its “Read to a Dog” program.

One of our most recent and successful adoption incentives is free veterinary care for life for all cats and dogs 10 years and older.

All of our programs and services are staffed by over 500 dedicated volunteers (We have no paid staff.) and are financed by the generosity of our members, individual donors, businesses, bequests, and our onsite Attic Thrift Shop which provides 50% of our income.  To all of you, we offer our most profound and sincere thanks.
