WHO WE ARE

Anointed Vessel Productions operates in Riverside County providing community outreach and development services through the Performing Arts.  We are governed by a volunteer Board of directors educated in the fields of Education, Psychology, Performing Arts, and Social Services, which also serves as a community theatre group dedicated to ensuring that the school aged youth of Riverside County reach their greatest potential.

Our mission is to UNITE creative performers to provide high quality ENTERTAINMENT through stage plays that are thought provoking and speaks to the day to day life circumstances, to INSPIRE our audience to have hope while responding to those circumstances.  We accomplish our mission through collaboration and community partnerships with schools, churches, non profit organizations, foster family agencies, group homes, family resource centers, and youth opportunity centers.

WHAT WE DO

Riverside County is home to a large youth population with thirty percent under 18 years old. The K-12 system is comprised of 23 school districts and services 349,151 school-aged youth. Of these youth, 3.2% drop out of school before finishing the twelfth grade ā€“ just below the state rate of 3.8% ā€“ and approximately 22% of Riverside Countyā€™s youth, 18 years and under, live in poverty. Anointed Vessel Productions address the school drop out rates in Riverside County through contracted services with schools to provide alternative education and life skills training utilizing arts integration, and a community after school performing arts program (Project Heartbeat).

Project Heartbeat gives youth an outlet for creative expression and positive self identity to influence their love and appreciation for learning, while simultaneously empowering them to modify and manage at-risk behaviors for increased academic success.  The Arts produce jobs, generating an estimated $37 billion with a return of $3.4 billion in federal income taxes (Source: American Arts Alliance Fact Sheet, October 1996).      Project heartbeat targets youth age 11-18, teaching them theatre techniques for developing leadership and anger management skills; and acting techniques for improved self-esteem, increased confidence, and enhanced social skills for positive connections in relationships through enactments of staged real life youth challenges at public performances.  This alternative model of learning relieves academic stress and allows the participants to have direct experience and involvement in decisions about their learning

Since 2010, we have served 740 youth. Of those youth 95% demonstrated a significant behavior change and 5% demonstrated moderate behavior change at the conclusion of the program. 75% of the youth have increased academically by 1-2 grade levels, 20% have graduated from high school and are now attending college. Post test results show that participants have gained a different perspective on learning, and parents and teachers have testified that participants are demonstrating increased confidence and improved social skills.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your financial support can help us expand our services to effect change in the lives of more youth, creating alternative realities, narratives, and imagination through the experience of the arts and culture, that can be created in the real world for a successful future.
