Empowering Children, Supporting Families, Strengthening Communities

“Anova has changed our world. The opportunities that my son has at this school are so many. I have watched him gain confidence, make friends and keep them, and have a staff that creates an education plan meeting and fulfilling his needs. I really can’t say enough about this school that is more than a school.”  -  Anova Parent

Anova is Northern California’s most trusted provider of autism education and therapy serving over 300 students daily and over 5,000 families to date.  Anova's mission is to provide innovative educational and therapy services to children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, and other neurodevelopmental impairments. Our services are provided in school, community, and home environments, allowing individuals to function more independently, engage in meaningful relationships with others, and lead an improved quality of life.

Anova was founded over sixteen years ago, by Andrew Bailey and Mary Beth Ludwig as a grassroots, non-profit and comprehensive community resource.  We have grown from a staff of two clinicians and an accountant, to a thriving team of over 300 dedicated employees providing educational and behavior support within our own ACE Schools, local school districts and families.  By founding Anova, they combined their inspiration and talents to create a new paradigm in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and those who learn differently.

With current statistics showing autism affects 1 in 68 children and is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the US exceeding juvenile diabetes, childhood cancer, and pediatric AIDS combined, it is imperative that Anova provides this growing population an educational method in which they can learn the essential life skills necessary lead productive and self-sufficient lives.

We are currently the only program in Northern California that specializes in treating autism with related social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.  Although  we serve children ages 5-22 within our three K-12 non-public schools, our therapy services provide a wide range of treatment to infants through adulthood in 15 counties across California.  Anova also offers early intervention, after-school programs, summer camps, services in public schools and in-home environments, a transition program for young adults, and serve as an important community resource.

When a child receives services from Anova, they are certain to show improvement in their academic work, acquire social and communication skills previously undeveloped, enhance their self-esteem, and become better prepared for post-school experiences.

Anova is dedicated to helping each of our students realize their full potential, achieve personal aspirations, and lead an overall higher quality of life.  The majority of our senior graduates were considered to be unteachable and not capable of graduating or obtaining a job before attending our ACE schools.  We are proud to have a robust graduating class every year with 95% enrolling in junior college, vocational training, transition programs, or the workforce.

We just launched a new Transition Program for young adults ages 18-22 and pioneered an innovative Sensory Friendly Restaurant Initiative which created the first Sensory Friendly Restaurant in Northern California.  We are currently working on combining these two endeavors by incorporating sales of our sensory friendly kits as a business project for our Transition Program students to learn essential job skills such as business accounting, marketing, retail, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, etc.

As a non-profit school, your support can help toward these programs and many more including our current fundraising campaign on Razoo to build a playground for our students at our ACE Sonoma campus.
