Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote Michigan (APIAVote-MI) is a nonpartisan nonprofit committed to justice and equity for the Asian American + BIPOC community through grassroots mobilization, civic engagement, leadership development, and coalition building. We are a pan-Asian American organization that is diverse in ethnicity, age, generation status, socioeconomic status, religion, gender, and more. We engage in strong relationships with partner organizations, local and state coalitions.
We uphold a vision of justice and equity that asserts people power and community connectedness as the framework for democracy, decision-making, community engagement, and service.
This vision is realized through an informed, socially conscious Asian American community, unified behind the urgency for greater representation and greater power to uphold the values of our community.

In the state of Michigan, there are an estimated 419,878 people who identify as Asian or Pacific Islander. We are a diverse community with people from dozens of countries and cultures. Some of us are newcomers still learning the language and how to participate in American democracy and civil society.
We want everyone to have a stronger voice in our democracy, as voters and as leaders. We achieve this through voter registration, community engagement, and education. In the 2022 election, we hosted voter registration events around Michigan and got more than 1,500 people registered to vote. We knocked on almost 25,000 doors, sent 650,000 texts, and made nearly a million phone calls to encourage Michiganders to get out and participate in our democracy.
Our vision comes to life by recognizing and enhancing the inherent strengths within our community, supporting them, and nurturing the next generation of leaders.
From organizing food and school supply drives to hosting skills training workshops, candidate forums, and town halls, we foster a sense of unity and empowerment through diverse initiatives.
We actively involve our community in programs like Communi-tea, facilitating open discussions on desired community changes, and Mommy & Me sessions, providing a supportive platform for mothers to address mental health concerns alongside field experts.
The Asian and Pacific Islander American community in Michigan is beautifully diverse. We work with people from dozens of countries communicating in more than 30 languages. We speak their languages and meet them where they are: in a mosque, at school, at a car show, or sharing a meal at a local restaurant.
Beyond hosting forums, food drives, and workshops, our focus extends to direct collaboration with community leaders and elected officials, advocating for policies that uplift and empower our community. In 2022, our concerted efforts were instrumental in the passage of Prop 2, a crucial milestone in enhancing voting accessibility and safeguarding our democratic rights.
We owe our success to the unwavering dedication of our staff, volunteers, community members, and supporters like you, who share our vision of a thriving Michigan for all. Each and every one of our partners, donors, and advocates plays an integral role in fueling our mission. Your commitment sustains our efforts and drives our ongoing work to empower individuals and foster community connections throughout Michigan.
Thank you for being part of our journey towards a brighter future.
