Apollo Theater is joining Black Philanthropy Month and #Give828 in a national day of giving focused specifically on supporting Black-led and Black-centered organizations. The Apollo Theater has remained a home and a safe space for Black artists and audiences to thrive for more than 86 years. The Theater’s mission centers on Black artists, culture and creativity, every day, 365 days a year and The Apollo is Black-led, with a diverse Board of Trustees and staff.
The disproportionate deaths in Black communities from COVID-19 and the recent killings of unarmed Black people that have sparked waves of protests illustrate the critical need for resources in Black communities.
#Give828 takes place as Black Philanthropy Month culminates and commemorates multiple important historical events on this date:
For more than eight decades, we have amplified the movements and conversations around civil rights, social justice and racial inequality. Your support will help us to continue the important work of presenting, producing and commissioning Black art and uplifting our community.
