The Museum is designed to provide a self-guided exploration of exhibits that include a theater; a hands-on Kid’s Area; a library & archive featuring books, magazines, and videos. Exhibit themes range from the early evidence of spotted horses in art and literature, to the relationship between the Appaloosa and the Nez Perce, to the highlights of the modern Appaloosa Horse Club.

The Appaloosa Museum welcomes school groups, home-schoolers, and youth groups such as 4H and scouts. Our standard program lasts around one hour and includes a short lecture followed by an exploration of the museum in small groups where students answer questions that help them delve into the history, present and future of the Appaloosa horse.

Part of the program is a chance to sit on several types of saddles including a sidesaddle. We are also most willing to tailor a program to meet your specific needs.
