About Aspen Public Radio

Each weekday, Aspen Public Radio broadcasts 16 hours of national radio programming from NPR, American Public Media, PRX, and WNYC, along with 8 hours of international programming from the BCC and PRX. Approximately 18,000 listeners tune in each week to Aspen Public Radio, and the need is greater than ever to serve the diverse communities of the valley by investing in local reporting on the complex issues we are working to explore and address – with radio providing a unique and convenient way of delivering daily news. We employ a team of local broadcast journalists - covering Aspen to Glenwood Springs, and Rifle to Eagle.

Public radio is vital in providing the information we all need to fully exercise our rights in our democracy. Free, over-the-air public radio broadcast signals cover nearly 99% of the nation’s population and remain the most easily accessed daily news source for audiences nationwide — especially in rural communities. Whether it’s a better understanding of the actions of your elected officials, opportunities or concerns around potential policy decisions, the invitation to get involved and participate in community actions, or the introduction of new ideas and creative solutions, free access to news and information and the presence of local journalists are critical to a healthy community.
