The Arc of Jefferson County was established in 1953, 3 years after The National Arc was created. Over the years as understanding of developmental and intellectual disabilities has changed, terminology which was once correct is no longer appropriate. The Arc is no longer an acronym, but simply a name that means hope and help for a better tomorrow for each of the hundreds of thousands of consumers served by Arc Organizations all across the U.S.

At the Arc of Jefferson County we provide services to our consumers including Residentail Housing, Adult Day Care Programs, Early Intervention Detection, Employment Placement and Medical Assistance through our Wellness Program.

One of the main goals at The Arc is to provide as normal life as possible for our consumers. They take day trips to the park, go to movies, shop at the mall and local grocery stores, volunteer in the community, attend sporting events, throw holiday parties and plan fun vacations such as going to Gatlinburg and different beaches. We assist our consumers in accomplishing everything to their best ability!
