Friends of Arizona History, Inc.

Arizona Historical Society/Southern Arizona Chapter, Inc. is dedicated to advance the understanding, appreciation, preservation and restoration of anything of historical value to southern Arizona.

We are an active organization dedicated to supporting the Southern Division of the Arizona Historical Society which includes Pima, Pinal, Cochise and Santa Cruz counties. The Arizona Historical Society's State appropriations have been declining for the past 30 years with drastic cuts in the past ten years. AHS Southern Division's paid staff is one-third of what it was 10 years ago and trying to meet the same needs. Private support is essential to fulfill the basic charge the State of Arizona has given AHS: to collect, preserve and interpret the documents and artifacts that tell Arizona's story-documents and artifacts that are disappearing without the efforts of an adequate, active professional staff. Private support is also needed to provide quality educational programming and to create and maintain engaging interpretive exhibits. State funding has become wholly inadequate to make this possible. Through the efforts of this non-profit, we have been able to support many of the new exhibits and programming being offered at the Arizona History Museum (our primary museum), Fort Lowell Museum, and other venues throughout southern Arizona.
