Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing Inc

A nonprofit organization

APAH's mission is to develop, preserve, own and advocate for quality affordable housing in Arlington, and to promote opportunity for our residents through partnerships and programs. Our vision is an inclusive, caring and economically diverse Arlington.

APAH was founded in 1989 by four Arlington families who put their commitment to social justice into action to create affordable housing in their community. From these humble beginnings, APAH has grown into a high-performing, innovative nonprofit that currently owns 14 properties serving more than 2,700 residents in 1,218 households.

APAH provides much-needed affordable housing to low income residents in our community. Between 2000-2013, Arlington lost 13,600 units of affordable housing to repositioning or redevelopment for higher income residents, underscoring the critical need for affordable housing in our community. More than 17,000 Arlington renter households are low income [earning less than 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) or $64,000 for a family of four], but only 9,600 rental apartments are available to meet their needs, causing a growing number of individuals and families in our community to be rent-burdened. APAH increases the affordable housing stock in Arlington to support a diverse and inclusive Arlington.

APAH's collaborative resident services program fosters stability, wellness and community-building among residents. This onsite, bilingual program increases resident stability through proactive eviction prevention and programs focused on workplace skills, financial education, well-being and community engagement. In 2014, APAH held 221 resident programs and helped 688 residents maintain stability and housing with individual support services.
