Will you give today to support Arouet’s A Community Thrives campaign? 

A Community Thrives is a grantmaking program from the USA Today Network of media brands. The program offers grants to fund community improvement projects and applicants are asked to raise $6,000 in order to qualify for grants totaling up to $100,000!

Funds from the A Community Thrives campaign, and any resulting grant monies Arouet receives, will be used to support and expand Arouet’s Storytellers program which gives women being released from prison a platform to share their stories and, in turn, take their lives back. Specifically, the Storytellers program:

• Trains the women to leverage their experiences to become advocates within the community and assist others who’ve been impacted by the justice system.
• Gives the women a platform to speak before legislators, CEOs, community leaders, and others who can impact the ability of incarcerated women to have a successful life after leaving prison.
• Reduces the stigma around imprisonment by generating empathy and helping to change the perception of incarcerated individuals.
• Helps women build confidence and reduce their shame around their incarceration which greatly reduces the chance of the women returning to prison.

The Storyteller program is just one tool Arouet uses to help women tap into their own strengths and establish stable, self-sufficient lives outside of prison. But the Storyteller program doesn’t exist without you.

NOTE: All donations made to Arouet qualify for the Arizona Tax Credit Program where up to $800 for joint filers ($400 for single filers) in donations can be claimed as a tax credit on your Arizona State Tax.
