Art in Action

In Art in Action schools there is a “culture of art” that creates amazing energy among the students, teachers, parents and administration. The whole school community feels the pride and joy of accomplishment when students have space and time for art.

When you open a child's eyes to art you teach that child to think outside the box. She  sees the world differently.  She enjoys learning just a little bit more. Perhaps she asks questions she wouldn't have asked before, because with art there are no wrong answers. That's the power of an arts education.

Over 4 million students across the country have no access to a visual arts education of any kind. Millions more have only cursory offerings.  In the Common Core curricula, art is not addressed directly even though the skills that art delivers -- critical thinking, communication, collaboration and, yes, creativity -- are exactly what will be assessed.

Art in Action serves a critical educational need by bringing a visual arts program to schools that don’t have the resources to do it on their own. Schools like those right here in Silicon Valley, where creativity ranks highest on corporate lists of important employable skills.

That's why we need you to help us meet our match to deliver essential art experiences and critical arts education to 3,000 kids in our community. Your donation will:

•  Provide the Art in Action program to students at underserved schools while creating a school-wide culture of art

•  Develop new and diverse art lessons relevant to the lives of these students

•  Empower hundreds of parents and teachers to teach art in the classrooms
