Welcome to Artreach, Inc., home of the nationally reknowned Second Step Players Theater troupe!  We at Artreach believe that creativity in all of its forms has the power to heal.  Everyone is creative by nature.  Artreach helps people remember who they are by connecting with their unique form of creativity.

A non-profit agency since 1985,  Artreach’s innovative approaches to wellness help adults who have experienced psychiatric disorders achieve sustainable recovery, as defined by each individual, using creativity as its primary healing modality.

It’s not only our program members who benefit from Artreach and The Second Step Players.  By performing our educational theater locally and nationally, we are able to touch the hearts of everyone who comes to our shows and engages in our post show discussion, which we call “Truth.”  Sharing our truth in front of an audience is a powerful way to reduce stigma and connect with people on a deep level.  In the age of social networking, we also reach people through our youTube site, mySpace and Facebook.  The ripple effects are wide.

Since 1985, Artreach, Inc. has supported recovery for adults who have psychiatric disorders. Our mission is to provide creative arts, alternative wellness, and recreational opportunities to our program members.  These activities enhance the quality of our members’ lives.  Our members develop resiliency and stress hardiness, and discover new pathways for achieving sustainable recovery.  Artreach deeply believes that Creativity Heals.

The Artreach community is supportive and fun.  The air is effervescent with laughter.  Working together as equals, staff and program members create a resonant field which enables individuals to remember who they are in their healthiest form.  In this positive environment, where mutual support, respect, and love are the norm, our program members and staff thrive and grow.  On a regular basis, we witness individuals reconnecting with their life’s purpose and using their creativity to design their lives in meaningful ways.

Artreach’s positive impact extends far beyond the benefits that program members receive. Through local and national Second Step Players productions, we share the message that recovery happens, and that creativity heals. Since 1985, the Second Step Players have created and performed original sketch comedy about mental health issues.  The Players touring performances reach audiences from all walks of life; providers of mental health services, students in nursing and psychology programs, family members, and other people who have experienced psychiatric issues.
