The Arts Council of Kern strives to support the arts in Kern County. We do this by hiring artists to teach and perform at our programs, funding their projects through our community grants, and opening up our gallery for aspiring artists.

The Access Center Galleryis dedicated to new artists, helping them understand the ins and outs of producing an art show. This also helps build their CV.

The ArtWalk at First Friday allows artists and crafters to display and sell their work on the first Friday of every month.

Arts In Corrections has been a long standing program in our community. By hiring local artists, inmates of various correctional facilities in Kern County take drawing and painting classes. These classes help build self esteem and creates comradre and communication between inmates.

The Art Care program consists of 3 musicians and 1 visual artist who create music and art for the patients, families, and care givers of San Joaquin Comunity Hospital.

The Arts Council of Kern has served this county since 1976. All of this is possible with the partnership of the California Arts Council, the County of Kern, and local agencies.
