Strengthening artists and arts and culture organizations to increase their impact in our region.

OUR VISION FOR THE REGION

CultureWorks values diversity and inclusivity and believes everyone in our community should have access to arts and culture, as well as the opportunity to express their culture through the arts.

Our vision is a vibrant region through empowered artists and arts and culture organizations. We will accomplish this through providing grant opportunities, deepening access to communities with barriers, increasing the capacity of small and medium-sized organizations and individual artists, and the promotion of events to the public.

After our best efforts to execute on our goals, our work will have the following impacts:

• Greater community participation in arts and culture
• Increased cultural equity across the region
• Stronger, more self-sustaining artists, communities, and organizations within the creative and cultural environment

Strategies to Achieve these Impacts:

• Help make arts and culture accessible to everyone across the region
• Encourage regional collaboration
• Increase the capacity and economic impact of artists and organizations
• Expand the ability of artists and organizations to access resources

Funding from the USA Today A Community Thrives grant will directly support our Tri-Cities Action Plan to elevate arts and culture in the Tri-Cities communities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and Petersburg.

OUR SERVICE AREA

CultureWorks serves the Richmond and Tri-Cities region (Cities of Richmond, Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg, along with the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan, and the town of Ashland) which includes an array of constituents from individual practicing artists, and grassroots arts organizations, to large well-established cultural nonprofits.
