 Who We Are and What We Have Accomplished

 The purpose of ArtsRevive Community Development Corporation, Inc. is to enhance community development in the greater historic Selma, Alabama region through the development of the arts, urban design, and tourism while preserving the diverse cultural heritage of the region.

 ArtsRevive is a membership based, non-profit organization.  We have sponsored a number of events since being incorporated in 2003.  These events happened because of the support of our members and corporate partners and through grants from a number of state and corporate entities.  The following exciting occasions have highlighted the arts and culture of our area:

• Annual ArtsRevive Art Show in conjunction with the Selma Pilgrimage
• Shakespeare Festival’s Gee’s Bend
• Montgomery Ballet’s The Nutcracker, A Repertory Performance, Sleeping Beauty   and Midsummer Night’s Dream
• The Tribe of Judah’s Gospel Concert
• Mystery Night
• Encore’s Off Broad Street Productions      (local theatre)
• The Library of Congress Gateway to Knowledge Exhibit
• 1st Annual Street Fest with the Alabama Symphony

 In May of 2011, Arts Revive hosted our first STREET FEST.  We believe Selma’s downtown is a valuable asset to our community. To attract locals and visitors downtown, we filled our building and the surrounding street with artist, food vendors, and children’s art activities.  We partnered with Leadership Selma/Dallas County for their annual Crime Stoppers Fish Fry, and $6000 was raised for Crime Stoppers.  The Concordia Jazz Band entertained during lunch and the Alabama Symphony performed that evening in our courtyard to an over flow crowd.

 In October 2011, ArtsRevive hosted the 33rd Alabama Tale Tellin’ Festival in the courtyard of the ArtsRevive Carneal Building.  ArtsRevive is honored to carry on Kathryn Tucker Windham’s tradition at her request.

 In March of 2011, we opened our doors to the Arts Revive Carneal Building, an old car repair shop in historic downtown Selma.  It serves as our office, gallery and workspace and features a courtyard over-looking the Alabama River. We have hosted art shows, musical performances, workshops, play practices, book signings, and private parties.  This is just the beginning.  There are many opportunities for the arts to enhance the economy and quality of life in our community.  With your help, we can continue to make great things happen in Selma.
