The Arundel High School Music program is nationally recognized as one of the finest and most comprehensive high school music programs in the nation. The reputation that our program has earned, as well as the accolades received through performances are a tribute not only to our school but also the Anne Arundel County community as well.

Currently the Arundel High School Music Department is in dire need of instruments and equipment!

The Arundel High School Music program is a self-supporting music program, receiving a small operating budget of $2,000 per year from the AACPS school system. Out of the $2000, 40% is used just to cover paper! The rest of the funding buys music for the students to play!

This leaves the music program with aging, broken and in a few cases, not enough instruments for the students to perform on…

Despite the dents, duct tape and equipment shortage, the Arundel High School Music Program has persevered and found alternative instruments and great success over the past two years!

  • March 2011: 1st place at the University of Maryland Jazz Festival
  • April 2011: Winner of the Heritage Music Festival in New York City!
  • October 2011: Top Scoring Color Guard and Percussion Group at the Maryland State Marching Championships
  • March 2012: Concert Band and Orchestra ranked #2 in Anne Arundel County
  • May 2012: Color Guard wins 1st place in Maryland
  • November 2012: Marching Band wins Maryland State Championships
  • January 2012: Jazz Band wins 1st place at Towson University Jazz Festival
  • March 2012: Concert Band wins 1st place at AACPS Music Festival, Ranked in top 7 for Maryland
  • March 2012: Orchestra earns Superior rating at AACPS Music Festival; invited to Maryland Championship
  • Spring 2012: Orchestra wins 1st place at Festival Disney, Jazz Band wins 3rd place at Festival Disney and Color Guard Receives Superior Rating!

Yet, all this success has come with a price and has taken a toll on our equipment. We are currently about 20 instruments short for the 2013-2014 school year. Without replacements and renovations, we will struggle to have enough equipment to maintain our great program bringing musical opportunities to over 500 students!

Please help Arundel Music continue bringing positive musical experiences to the students of Anne Arundel County!
