Cultivate Stillness & Peace -- Needed Now More Than Ever
The Aryaloka Buddhist Center, located in the Seacoast Region of New Hampshire, has been a tranquil refuge to cultivate stillness, generosity of spirit, freedom and joy for 40 years. The spiritual community is dedicated to the study and practice of Buddhist teachings. Aryaloka offers a great mix of classes, workshops and retreats on meditation, mindfulness, yoga, Dharma study and ethical lifestyle topics such as vegetarian cooking.
Every year, hundreds of people discover new ways of approaching and deepening their spiritual development and connection to the communities in which they live. Our doors are now open for onsite and online retreats and meditations. See the options to connect and find peace at https://aryaloka.org
We rely on the generosity of friends to continue to be a tranquil refuge for connection and stillness.
Join us and please give so we can continue to pass on the peace that we, our friends, family and the world so desperately need today.
Aryaloka was founded in 1985 with a vision of creating a center that would embody a comprehensive and collective Buddhist way of life. Our mission is to create the best possible conditions in which to explore and practice the Buddhist spiritual path. We aim to study and practice meditation and Buddhadharma in a spiritual community based on the ideals of generosity, compassion, and awareness.
Aryaloka has developed into the nucleus of a growing Buddhist mandala. Our thriving regional sangha reaches from Maine to Massachusetts. Classes, discussion and practice groups, and project “kulas” meet continuously at our active center. Friends from all over the country join us for retreats. There are affiliated groups practicing in Maine, Massachusetts and New York City. Several Buddhist-owned businesses and companies are located in our region, where Buddhists create an environment of ethics and meaning in their workplace. A significant and expanding outreach program serves men in the New Hampshire State Prison.
Situated on thirteen secluded acres in southern New Hampshire, Aryaloka houses a beautiful meditation hall, comfortable common areas, and retreat facilities where stillness can be found.
The center provides:
A home for regional Buddhists to practice and study
Opportunities for collective and solitary retreats
A Buddhist reference library of tapes, CDs, videos, periodicals, and books
Buddhaworks – our center’s bookstore – offering a large selection of books and practice supplies
A peaceful place for Buddhist and other groups to rent for meetings or retreat
We offer practice and study at all levels, from introductory classes to training for ordination. Through participation in classes, retreats, celebrations, and pujas, one may learn about the Buddhist way of life and gradually become part of the sangha. Advanced study and practice are available to mitras – practitioners who have made a commitment to deepen their Buddhist practice within the Triratna Buddhist Community. Training for ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order is ongoing, as are collective practice opportunities for Order members.
