Ashland Symphony Orchestra Association

Ashland, Ohio is the smallest community in the United States to host a professional orchestra! The orchestra played its first concert in 1925 and was re-established as the Ashland Symphony Orchestra in 1970 under the baton of Harold Weller, 1970-1977.

During the 2021-2022 concert season, the ASO will be auditioning and selecting its sixth Music Director/Conductor. Five phenomenal candidates will be conducting programs of their choosing: Darwin Aquino, Yaniv Segal, Michael Repper, Raphael Jiménez, and Isaac Selya. Featured soloists will be David Halen, Violin; Mark Kosower, Cello; and Michael Repper, Piano.

Just like many arts organizations, the Ashland Symphony Orchestra struggled through the pandemic. We missed our musicians and our patrons. Together, we created some virtual programs but they didn't provide the same experience as live performances. With your help, we can return to the stage with a fabulous season filled with delightful music.

The ASO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and is dependent on individual and corporate gifts, grants, and endowments. The Ashland Symphony Orchestra aspires to become a leading arts organization in North Central Ohio known for high quality, affordable performances and community outreach programs that impact audiences from Ashland County and beyond.

Music has been and continues to be a very important part of my life. Music influences every part of our lives and has a positive effect on all of us. As I think of the ASO, I think of the percussion section. They are instrumental in setting the time or the “beat” of the music being played. Without the time being set or the “beat”, the music stops.
