Asian Pacific Islander SLH Caucus

The mission of the Asian Pacific Islander Speech-Language-Hearing Caucus (APISLHC) is to serve and support those who share a common interest in providing accessible and quality speech, language, cognitive and hearing services for individuals with various communicative and hearing needs across diverse API communities, including East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. There is a great need for services to underserved API communities. As of 2018, only 2.6% of ASHA members were Asian or Pacific Islanders (2.4% Asian and 0.2 % Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander) (Girolamo, 2019). We are an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (ID: 82-2353256) whose primary goal is to further connections among API groups, support API audiologists and speech-language pathologists (SLP), nurture future API professionals, and advocate for accessible and quality speech, language, cognitive and hearing services for API communities.

 Our goals are 

• Improving  Access to Health Care for Asian Pacific Islander (API) Communities
• Supporting and Nurturing API Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

We would greatly appreciate your donation. Your donation will be used to

• connect with and to support API professionals in the field of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences;
• support audiologists and SLPs serving API communities;
• advocate for accessible and quality speech, language, cognitive and hearing services for API communities; 
• facilitate research that advances speech, language, cognitive and hearing wellness within API communities;
• recruit and nurture future API audiologists and SLPs;
• offer students opportunities for leadership.
