WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Assistance League is a nonprofit organization that puts caring and commitment into action through community-based philanthropic programs.

Last year, more than 400 Assistance League member and community volunteers gave 50,000+ hours of service on behalf of local at-risk children.  Funds raised are returned to the community through five philanthropic programs:

 

• Operation Check Hunger -- Helps alleviate local children’s hunger by distributing in-school snacks to designated Charlotte-Mecklenburg elementary schools, take-home backpacks with food for families, and donations of bulk food products to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.


• Operation School Bell® -- Provides basic school clothing and books to children in need, helping 24 CMS elementary schools located in high poverty areas, enhancing self-esteem and promoting learning.


• Mecklenburg County Teen Court -- In partnership with the Department of Juvenile Justice, gives youthful offenders ages 10 to 15 years with no previous convictions a second chance when they admit their guilt, agree to be tried, and take responsibility for their actions before a jury of their peers.


• Scholarship Fund -- Awards funding to qualifying Charlotte-Mecklenburg graduating seniors, making the dream of a college education attainable.


• Outreach -- Provides good-quality in-kind donations which are distributed through partner organizations to individuals in need throughout the county.
