Association of Lutheran Church Musicians

Mentoring provides a structured learning environment that brings less experienced musicians together with experienced church musicians for the purpose of skill building, professional guidance, and developing competence. ALCM mentors are practicing church musicians, college professors, music instructors, or composers who offer their expertise, counsel and friendship to strengthen the professional practice of the 21st century church musician. ALCM mentors are volunteers and have been chosen by their peers because they demonstrate the competencies necessary to successfully manage the multiple disciplines that guide and energize Lutheran worship.

A Mentoring Scholarship provides:

• Funding for travel and materials
• Collegiality and support
• Motivation and focus
• A positive environment in which to conquer new goals or overcome professional challenges
• Exposure to new materials, techniques, or worship resources
• Opportunity to consider/strengthen the career path of a church musician
