Athena's Wheels Inc

We are Sue and Bruce Nadratowski, representing Athena’s Wheels Inc. We are a new non-profit that provides special needs people with equipment and tools not covered by insurance or benefits. Modified vehicles for wheelchair transportation to the doctor, the store, a trip to the beach, a family vacation, wherever. Push carts or strollers so that a person can join their family and friends at the park or for a walk. Seating for the living room so that people that require special lateral and head support can join the family. Visual aids, sensory aids, hearing aids, walking aids, and anything else that helps with that precious smile.

We have no income requirements; we only require that the items we provide are never sold. Our application process is very simple. A person says who they are, their condition, and what they need. We verify the need by speaking directly with the client or a health professional or a family member. We then purchase the item and provide it free of charge.

My husband and I are regular people that just want to help. This idea, inspired by our granddaughter Athena, started as a dinner table conversation. At first it was the vans, and then we talked about the many other things that are available and very costly for the average family. The more we talked about it the more it grew into a reality, something we could actually do. Athena is 1 child; her condition is severe cerebral palsy. There are so many things for so many conditions out there that affect so many people.

Our administration costs are low; we have donated all of the office equipment and starting costs. Bruce will continue to work to pay our personal expenses and provide us with health insurance. Sue has recently quit her job to operate Athena’s Wheels Inc. full time. We believe strongly in our mission and will succeed. We will do the work; we are inviting you to help with funding. The equipment we are providing is expensive. But the need and the difference it makes is priceless.
