Atkinson Historical Society

In 1880, a new Center School was built by Benjamin H. Steele on land owned by Samuel Knight, at a cost of $975. It was used until the Rockwell School opened in 1949. 

The school district turned the building over to the the town in 1969. It has served as quarters for the Selectmen, the Planning Board, the Atkinson Police Department and Family Mediation.

Let's return the Center School to the original one-room schoolhouse and preserve a wonderful example of Atkinson's history. Thank you very much for your contribution!
