Thousands of birds have been rescued since 2010, and more than 1220 have already come to us in 2024. 807 of these birds were treated, rehabilitated and/or adopted out to caring families. 332 native birds have been relocated or released back to their natural environments. www.asaputah.org
Founded in 2010, ASAP SERVES the under-appreciated bird populations of Utah. We SERVE the birds that most people only recognize when SERVED for dinner, CHICKENS, TURKEYS, DUCKS, GEESE, and other domestic birds as well as native species.
Zoos and Aviaries overlook these birds. The available Animal Service Agencies do not have proper facilities to care for these injured or abandoned domestic breeds, so they are often EUTHANIZED.
Exotic birds are part of our mission too. These birds quite often outlive their caretakers and the children who inherit them are often too busy to give these intellegent creatures the attention required for good health and mental well being.
This is the niche ASAP strives to fill by taking in injured, abandoned or unwanted birds, caring for them, rehabilitating ones in need and adopting them back out to proper situations.
We work with Animal Control and Parks & Rec to remove abandoned domestic birds from public areas. This helps prevent inter-breeding with native species and helps maintain natural environments.
ASAP provides an alternative to euthanasia for discouraged pet owners who can no longer care for their birds.
In conjunction with the Sanctuary we provide education programs to grade schools and community centers for better understanding of the responsibilities of bird ownership and care.
ASAP spearheads Community Programs to improve areas where birds and people congregate.
There are about 100 birds at the Sanctuary at any given time consuming and recycling approximately 300 pounds of food a day. All care, medical treatment and feeding is done by volunteers and with donations received.
Your Donations and Concern for our Feathered Friends is Greatly Appreciated!!!
