The Alabama Veterans Memorial Park, which is located on 22 acres just off I-459 at the Liberty Park exit has been a grass roots project from the beginning. The City of Birmingham provided the original seed money in the early 1990's. The Park opened Memorial Day weekend of 2001. Visitors often say the project, designed by the architectural firm of Giattina Fisher Aycock, is one that would be fitting on the Plaza in Washington D.C. There are approximately 10,000 visitors to the park each year. The Park and Foundation have no paid staff. They are run totally by volunteers.

On the grounds is a particularly impressive Memorial and Plaza. This is not a "war" memorial....this is a memorial to honor all veterans, living and dead, but particularly those 11.000 Alabamians killed serving our nation since 1900.It is a place of learning, a place of reflection and a place of pride. It is a living testament to the brave men and women who served and died in defense of our freedom. Remember them again by helping us keep the park open with your generous donations. Thank you.
