Adaptive Wilderness Sports of McCall (AWeSOMe!)

is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people of all abilities through high quality outdoor experiences.  AWeSOMe provides opportunities for children
and adults with disabilities to participate in a wide range of recreational and leisure activities, regardless of ability to pay.  Community integration of people with disabilities through recreation creates opportunities for fun, to make new friends, develop skills and competencies that transfer into other areas of life.  Our community is richer and stronger by including all members in the recreation and leisure activities available in McCall and Valley County.

Since 2002 AWeSOMe! has run a highly successful adaptive winter ski and snowboard program that is offered at Brundage Mountain Resort. Ski and snowboard lessons for people with disabilities are provided using specialized adaptive equipment and teaching techniques.  We are able to accommodate people with a wide range of physical and cognitive disabilities including amputations, paralysis, visual impairments and autism.  Summer programs are currently being developed and will be offered this year. 

AWeSOMe! is proud to provide top quality, professional instruction, however, only two of our instructors are currently certified in adaptive skiing instruction by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA).  Our goal is to provide more certified instructors for the program by providing professional training to our volunteers.  Money raised from this campaign will fund adaptive ski training and an adaptive ski certification course at Brundage Mountain.
