$10,000 Goal

The mission of the Brain Injury Association of Louisiana /United Spinal Association of Louisiana is to be the statewide resource for individuals impacted by brain and/or spinal cord injuries. Our core services include advocacy, awareness, education, prevention and services.

Unless you have been personally impacted by a brain and/or spinal cord injury , it is hard to understand how challenging life can be. But as we have experienced first hand , it changes everything. One second is all the time it takes to sustain a brain and/or spinal cord injury. One second can mean the difference between walking or living life in a wheelchair. One second you are able to communicate, and the next second, you have trouble speaking and knowing what to say. One second a person is independent and the next second, dependent on someone else. One second, lives are shattered. But with the right connections, resources, and support, those lives can be pieced together and not lost.

Put yourself or a loved one in that "one second" position. Would knowing there is an established support system available to you provide a sense of hope? Would you feel less alone? If you answered "yes", then you support what we do. Please help us promote solutions and opportunities that advance the quality of life for people living with brain and/or spinal cord injuries throughout Louisiana.

Testimonials

Participating in the virtual support groups has brightened my days and helps me feel less alone and depressed. Thank you for looking out for people with disabilities and making sure we stay connected to others.
Shannon C, TBI Survivor

Living with a spinal cord injury has been a challenge but the peer mentor program has definitely assisted me in adjusting to my new normal. Thank you for giving me hope.
Emerson M, SCI Survivor

After my son sustained a TBI, BIALA was very helpful in providing me information on the THSCI Trust Fund. They walked me through the process. It was a very stressful time so I was very grateful for their support and understanding.
