Brazos Valley Community Band

A nonprofit organization

We provide a place for local musicians to join together to bring music to the Brazos Valley. Founded in 2008, the band's mission is to: provide musical performances to the Brazos Valley community and participate in community events; serve as an outreach to those unable to attend concerts by bringing music to them; provide an opportunity for volunteer musicians to learn to play and perform a variety of music and musical styles; educate the community about a wide array of music genres.

The Brazos Valley Community Band, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, plays a wide variety of musical styles, including patriotic, blues, movie themes, jazz and classical. The band is an all-volunteer group of musicians, many of whom played in high school or college bands, and still simply enjoy making music. No auditions are required. The only requirements are to have a love of music, a commitment to play well, and a desire to have fun rehearsing and performing together.

For many of us, music has always been an important part of our lives. Whether it was the hours of practicing on our own mastering our instrument or spending time with fellow musicians to perfect a piece of music together, we have enjoyed the camaraderie of performing live music as part of a group.

We hold concerts at senior living communities in Bryan/College Station, present an annual Halloween concert at Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station, play for Veteran's Day and Memorial Day events held at American Legion Post 159 and VFW Post 4692 in Bryan, TX, and participate in holiday events at the George Bush Library on the Texas A&M University campus.

Testimonials

As the senior citizen (by many years!) in the clarinet section of the band, I enjoy the variety of music we play and the great time we have rehearsing and performing music together. If you are interested in joining us, come to a rehearsal and "check us out." Richard Alexander (old clarinet guy)

As a new job spurred our family move to the Brazos Valley, we were struggling to get plugged into the community. Then, from the very first practice, we were heartily welcomed to the Brazos Valley Community Band organization and found a veritable "hornucopia" of individuals, young and old, passionate about their music and with highly varied life roles. The BVCB has driven our further connection to the greater Brazos Valley family. Randy Brooks - trumpet

After college I was looking for an avenue to keep music in my life. I felt immediately at home and part of the group with the Brazos Valley Community Band. They're the friendliest people I know! We all just love playing music together and talking about music. Every rehearsal, I'm challenged to be a better musician, and I walk away with a lighter heart to face the rest of my work week. Shelby Brooks - tenor saxophone

If you enjoyed band in high school, college, taught music, or played professionally, you will continue to enjoy "being in band" and performing a variety of good music for people who enjoy and appreciate a good band concert. Ray Sanders - trombone
