It was 1975 in Madison. Flush from recent successful Vietnam protests, groups of UW students, alumni, and Madison residents decided they wanted a voice in what kind of food they ate, the kind of medicine and medical advice they received, and what they heard over the airwaves. Willy St. Coop, Community Pharmacy and WORT were born that year and Madison wasn't the same.

40 years later, you continue to keep that community spirit alive.

You want to know more than the canned news.Due to budget cuts at newspapers, television and radio stations, there is no money to pay reporters to go beyond the headlines and press releases.

But your support allowed WORT to increase our news coverage.

ALIVE, PERIOD
Community radio stations are struggling (and dying) across the United States. In fact, in three of the biggest media markets--New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta--long time community radio stations are on their last legs.

Please don't let this happen in Madison. As Joni Mitchell sings, "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got til it's gone." You created WORT, one of the country's great community radio stations. Please don't let it die.
