We are outgrowing hunger on the Palouse!

Backyard Harvest doesn't just provide fresh produce to low-income families and seniors, we provide a sense of community.

Our staff work year round to bring fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables to where they are needed most. Staff and volunteers collect extra produce, glean fruit that would otherwise go to waste, and supporting inspirational community groups that are willing to grow for the good of others. These objectives cover two of our core programs; Harvest Share and Community Orchard.

Our third program is Shop the Market, where we process SNAP benefits at the Moscow and Pullman farmer's markets. During a survey, a beneficiary of our program confided, "It makes me feel included in a sense of community that I otherwise couldn’t afford." Last year, this program also helped to put $18,000 into the hands of local farmers.

This sense of community, that everyone can afford, is at the heart of our grass-roots movement to bring healthy, delicious food to those who need it most.

Since our inception in 2006, we have distributed over 250,000 lbs of fresh, local foods to those in need. Last year alone we distribted over 30,000 lbs of produce.

Every gift helps us increase our capacity. We live in a region of bounty. There is more produce than we can glean but also more need than we can reach.

Thank you for helping us reach our goal of distributing 40,000 lbs or fresh produce this year and supporting rural communities with installation of donation gardens.
