Funds raised through Give OUT Day will help support the Bailey House STARS program for HIV-positive and LGBTQ young adults.  Bailey House is the leading provider of housing to HIV-positive young adults in New York City; STARS (Success Through Accessing Rental Assistance and Support) houses 50 young people. STARS  is one of the few permanent housing options available for homeless young adults living with HIV or at great risk for HIV in the City. On any given night in NYC, 1,600 youth have no place to go; approximately 40% identify as LGBTQ. STARS fills a critical gap in services for this population by providing housing, care and support, all grounded in our 31 years of experience serving people living with HIV/AIDS. HIV disproportionately affects LGBTQ young people, especially those who are homeless. The STARS program is unique in its targeting of both the HIV-positive and the homeless LGBTQ young adult populations, which clearly should be addressed in tandem.

For more than 30 years, Bailey House has provided a continuum of housing, case management and wraparound support services to people living with HIV/AIDS. As leaders in the field of supportive housing for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, Bailey House has made connecting clients to care a cornerstone of their services, resulting in an integration of health-related care with community support that empowers clients to make educated choices about their health and well-being.
