$1,715 raised by 7 donors

Our goal is to raise $50,000 toward a new school facility. The REALLY exciting thing is,  we have identified that building! This campaign could not have come at a better time, as we work to prepare for this time to grow.

Our school program has been operating in our 3 learning center facilities, with only two classrooms at each location. But soon we can accept more students, and parents call every day to see if we have room to make a difference for their child!

Since 1996, we've helped hundreds of students overcome their learning challenges. Without the right help, students may be overcome with anger, disappointment, and failure, resulting in tragedy or heartbreak. While we cannot change life circumstances, we can help to change life choices, and give these students a chance to succeed through education. Through THIS CAMPAIGN,  your donation will support an expanded school facility, allowing more students to receive the services they need.

Our students come to us with significant challenges due to learning disabilities and/or social-emotional challenges that have made learning in more traditional educational settings frustrating or unsuccessful. We move students from feelings of failure and being overwhelmed, to feelings of accomplishment—ready to engage in learning.  We meet students where they are, not where we want them to be.

Tim was a foster boy, who because of his emotional issues, failed to be properly diagnosed with dyslexia, although he was reading at a 2nd grade level in the 10th grade. Banyan Tree was able to identify his strengths, remediate his weaknesses, and after 2 years, help him enroll in college rather than being a statistic in juvenile hall. This would not have been possible without the support of people like you who believe ALL students should be given a chance to succeed.

Hannah was non-verbal due to a syndrome identified at birth.  Her mother was told that she would never talk, maybe never walk, and would most likely be in an institution. She didn’t accept that diagnosis, and when there were no other options for school, sought help at Banyan Tree. Our dedication to finding out what each student needs led us to therapies and programs that worked for Hannah. She is talking and communicating using assistive technology at our Foundations Academy, developing academic skills, socializing with peers and adults, and using her organizational skills as vocational preparation. She will be able to work and contribute in her community, rather than be institutionalized.

Mike came to us in 6th grade, diagnosed with autism, but struggling with reading, auditory processing, attention, and frustration. After two years of addressing his specific needs 1-1, he was able to return to his school district, where he socializes with his peers, and can keep up academically with support.

Blaine attended a private prep school, coming from a supportive home and learning environment. But in second grade, he was formally diagnosed with dyslexia, and enrolled at Banyan Tree to address his learning disability.  After 3 years, he was able to return to his previous school, having overcome dyslexia and opening up options in life equal to his potential. Last December, he graduated from Purdue with a degree in Engineering, and has a job with a major firm. He credits his success to his family, who gave him the experience at Banyan Tree to deal head-on with his dyslexia.

Whether students attend Banyan Tree Foundations Academy or the after-school Learning Centers, we discover the underlying causes of their learning struggles, strengthen the underdeveloped processing skills, and teach students HOW they learn best. The intensive remediation can change the way the body and brain process information, leading to significant, lasting changes, overcoming learning, social, and emotional challenges, including dyslexia, auditory processing, ADHD, autism and sensory deficits.  Your support will help provide needed interventions to more students in our community. The outcome is life-changing, for the students and their families.
