Baptist Health Foundation of Birmingham Inc

In 1922, Baptist Health System (BHS) was founded in Birmingham by a group of local churches. Today, BHS remains true to its commitment to provide quality health care -- physically, mentally and spiritually -- while serving as a witness to the love of God as revealed through Jesus Christ.  As a faith-based, not-for-profit health care system, BHS provides medical care to all patients, no matter their financial situation.

With over 1,000 licensed hospital beds and more than 800 physicians, four BHS hospitals provide care to north and central Alabama: Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, and Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. 

Baptist Health Foundation was established in 1967 to ensure that BHS has the charitable and community resources necessary to sustain its healing ministries for years to come.  Currently, the Foundation secures financial support for a variety of health-related activities at our hospitals and within the community.

This year, Baptist Health Foundation will focus our fundraising efforts on the following programs and projects: 1.) Improving access to health care in Talladega through recruitment of physicians and expansion of services, including outpatient wound care, at Citizens Baptist, 2.) The expansion of Princeton Baptist, which will include 16 state-of-the-art surgical suites and a new chapel to anchor our mission of faith-based healing, 3.) The development of an electrophysiology program at Shelby Baptist to treat abnormal heart rhythms allowing patients to receive the full scope of cardiovascular procedures in one location, and 4.) Upgrades in gastrointestinal and surgical imaging equipment at Walker Baptist.
