Join Barracks Row Main Street (BRMS) on Giving Tuesday as we continue our ongoing mission to revitalize 8th Street SE as a vibrant commercial corridor reconnecting Capitol Hill to the Anacostia River, using historic preservation and the arts as economic development tools and benfiting the broadest possible community.

What is the mission of BRMS?

Barracks Row Main Street is a 501(c)3 organization working to revitalize the Barracks Row commercial corridor of 8th Street SE between the Eastern Market Metro Station and the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Our mission is to benefit the broadest possible local community by restoring 8th Street SE as a vibrant commercial link reconnecting Capitol Hill with the Anacostia River.

What is the vision of BRMS?

Our vision for Barracks Row is to create a vibrant business district steeped in history. We need your help to complete this vision! 

Where does the money go?

Barracks Row Main Street is the oldest of the ten certified Main Street Communities in Washington, DC. Founded in 1999, BRMS has worked tirelessly to improve the Barracks Row commercial corridor and the Capitol Hill community as a whole.

While BRMS has seen great success in securing grant funding from local and national foundations and from the DC Government that covers much of the costs of our full slate of annual events (Egg Hunt on 8th, Taste of 8th, Fall Festival, Santa Arrives on 8th, and many more), our robust Facade Improvement Program, and the weekend Clean Team services provided through our contract with Ready, Willing and Working, every year there is always so much more we want to do. That's where the approximately $100,000 we raise from building and business owners, board members, event sponsors, and fundraisers like this one comes in and closes the gap.

This year is the second year BRMS has participated in #GivingTuesday. Help us make it a success by donating what you can to get us to our $2,500 goal!

What do you do with the money?

Funds from #GivingTuesday will go towards public space improvements, such as the revitalization of callboxes, that help make the street a more enjoyable place to live, work, shop, and dine!
