Barren River Area Safe Space Inc

1 in 4 homeless women identify domestic violence as the leading cause of homelessness.  The Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc. provides emergency shelter and support services to women and children faced with the choice between staying in an abusive home or dealing with the trauma of homelessness. 

Imagine a child whio is forced to leave home because of family violence...imagine leaving in the middle of the night without clothes for chool, favorite toys or perhaps a tiny kitten...imagine a mother who must choose whether to stay in an abusive home or leave with her children, unsure of where to go...imagine is a safe place for families that flee domestic violence did not exist...imagine. 

But emergency shelters and programs designed to support those that flee family violence do exist.  BRASS provides safety, support, crisis intervention, financial literacy & economic justice programs, transitional & permanent housing, court advocacy, immigration services and children's services.
