Barrett Early Learning Center Inc

Barrett Early Learning Center is a not-for-profit center, licensed by the Directors. It is the oldest, continuously operating child care center in the Commonwealth, organized in the fall of 1935 under the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Formerly known as Barrett Day Care Center, the name was changed in the summer of 2003 to reflect our emphasis on teaching and learning, with regard to all aspects of child development—social, emotional, intellectual and physical.

We believe that a child’s early years provide the foundation for growth and development for the rest of her/his life. We believe that excitement for learning is best generated in a setting that presents challenging and supportive experiences which encourage creative thinking and problem solving; allows decision- and choice-making within appropriate limits, and fosters love and respect for self and others.
