Mission: Bridge the social gaps and fill the needs of the community by providing resources and building relationships that support sustainability and foster economic growth.

Palmetto Learning Academy emerged out of a pursuit to educate, inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2014, we're an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Palmetto Learning Academy feels it is important to understand the needs of the community being served. Our programs are geared toward the feedback that we receive from community participants.

Palmetto Learning Academy is poised for rapid expansion in combing STEM and Agriculture Education outreach to underserved students across the state. As We Grow, engages young, underserved minority students living in the state of South Carolina into the world of STEM and Agriculture through project-based learning with the goal of encouraging science, technology, engineering, and agricultural career pathways and creating the future farmers in America.

Nourishing the Neighborhood is an implementation of urban gardens serving residents of HUD sponsored, low-income, affordable housing communities in Richland County that are currently located within a food desert. We are promoting a stewardship ethic through our gardening opportunities and workshops by increasing awareness of the need for nutrition and healthy food access for low-income minority communities. Our community garden space in food deserts are providing a variety of benefits, including increased access to fresh, nutritious foods, community building, environmental benefits, educational opportunities, and empowerment. Our community garden initiative provides support to address food insecurity, promote healthy, sustainable communities and promote powerful neighborhood level social change.
