  • 47,000 people die from kidney disease per year
  • Kidney disease ranks 9th as a cause of death, higher than breast or prostate cancer
  • With only 17,000 kidney transplants a year
  • 101,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant
  • And 185,000 living with a functioning kidney transplant
  • And there are 450,000 living on kidney dialysis, which only partially replaces kidney functions

The Bay Area Association of Kidney Patients has a track record of helping kidney patients in our area-AT NO COST TO THE MEMBERS!

  • 31 Educational Presentations since our founding with 48 Physicians and Medical Professional Speakers and 2340 Total Attendance.  
  • We have had 55 monthly small support group meetings and 537 attending. 
  • 30 newsletters published & distributed to our 1157 members
  • 200 emails with kidney information sent from our interactive website: www.baakp.org
