BayLegal assures fairness for all in the civil justice system, regardless of how much money you have. It provides access to legal help for people to protect their livelihoods, their health and their families. BayLegal makes it easier to access information, legal assistance, representation, and legal self-help centers – so people can know their rights.

For Carmen, a 93-year-old great-grandmother, access to legal aid meant being able to keep her home. When a senior mobile home park tried to wrongfully evict her from the home she owned, Carmen called BayLegal for help. We represented her at trial and in the appeal, where the judge found that the eviction was motivated by ethnic bias. Carmen saved her home and was protected from additional harassment by the park owners.
