Belgrade Community Action Association

Who Are We?

The Belgrade Community Action Association (BCAA) has been active in the community since 1970.

PURPOSE:  To inspire and empower our community and surrounding areas' health and social conditions through education and training, enabling us to transcend our past and current conditions.  

FOCUS:  The people of the community who are most susceptible to the effects of low-income:  the youth and elderly. 

Community Thrives Project

We are so excited to be participating in this year’s event and thankful for the opportunity!  

This year’s Community Thrives project is focused on raising funds to purchase new playground equipment.   Our current equipment is nearing 20 years old and in most cases in disrepair and will soon no longer be safe for use. Our beloved community center is viewed as the “meeting” place for all the community, where families can gather for events, summer sporting games, family reunions and other activities.   The playground is a huge part of our community center and culture of togetherness.  We are a small rural community and our residents rely on our park as as safe and fun place for children and families to play and bond.    It also serves as a supplemental fitness/recreation area for our youth programs.  

  KEY PROGRAMS

YOUTH Program:  Our community building has served as a base of operations for after-school and summer programs.  Our goal is to encourage our youth through positive development strategies, leadership skills, sense of community and educational opportunities to build a strong foundation for their future.

SENIOR Program:  Our community building is also an active site for the Onslow County Senior Services, providing for the needs of the elderly population to keep them active and involved in the community.  The program consists of crafts, exercise, games and free lunch.  

Activities and Events

In addition to the key programs mentioned above, we also host community fundraisers and and other programs throughout the year promoting a sense of pride in our community and outreach to our surrounding communities.  Below are some highlights of our past events...

BCAA Back to School Blast - August 17, 2019.  Bookbags with school supplies were given to the students during an afternoon of speakers, activities and lunch.

Pre-Valentine's Day Daddy-Daughter Dance - February 9, 2019.  It was an awesome evening of love, laughter and dance.

Golden Age Pageant - November 17, 2018.  Our contestants worked very hard to raise over $30,000!  

BCAA held a ceremony dedicating our Belgrade Community Center to the late Eldridge Paige, Sr. in honor for his leadership of our organization.
