We want to share our vision and give an update on our MRI project. Our overall master plan for the facility has included increasing capacity and privacy in the Emergency Rooms, and in working with our architect it has become more apparent that the timing of this renovation fits in well with our current project to add a permanent MRI.

Our ER volumes have increased and renovating this area to increase emergency room beds and prevent excessive wait times makes sense while we are constructing an MRI suite. In an average year, our Emergency Rooms see over 2,500 patients and over 6,800 radiological procedures are performed.

Renovating and increasing the capacity in the Emergency Department will also increase patient privacy and safety for patients, visitors, and staff. The plan is to include a covered ambulance bay, and private emergency rooms, away from hallways, for patients and their families.

A permanent MRI will increase our ability to perform scans in trauma-related incidents and for other diagnostics that we currently don’t have the access to perform because of the limited availability to an

MRI. Our current travelling MRI unit is nearing end of life adding to the timeliness of this project.

The Bear Lake Valley Health Care Foundation is working to raise $2,500,000 to support the overall cost of this project. We have a strong start of $564,000 raised and pledged, and invite you to consider a donation to make this possible.
