HELP US MEET THIS CHALLENGE AND DONATE TODAY!
In today's world, having the love and attention of a pet may be more important than ever as we navigate the new normal. Beaver County Humane Society (BCHS) is devoted to ensuring that a loving family has the opportunity to adopt a homeless or abandoned animal who is looking for his or her "furever" family.
With prices rising on essential items needed to feed and clothe family members, sometimes being able to afford to feed and care for a pet can be challenging. This challenge often leads to pet owners having to surrender their beloved pet to our shelter. We want to prevent that from having to happen if possible! That's why we offer low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics as well as a pet food pantry for those families in need.
The pet food pantry is currently only available to people who can come to our shelter to obtain needed food, litter, and treats. Recognizing that our shelter is anywhere from three to ten plus miles from lower income neighborhoods, and that heavy pet food bags is difficult to carry on a bus, we easily have identified a need to take our food pantry out into the community to best serve especially the people who are most in need.
Through A Community Thrives, we have applied for a grant to create the Partnering for Pets Mobile Food Pantry and are participating in their challenge to raise the most money and have the most unique donors between July 18 and August 12. That is why we need you to support us in this challenge! All money raised will go toward developing the mobile food pantry program. Ideally, we would like to purchase a used van or SUV, designate a staff person (or part of a staff person's time) to act as coordinator for the program, purchase food, litter, and treats to supplement what we get donated from the community for the food pantry inventory, as well as have money to pay for gas and maintenance on the vehicle. We have already begun working or at least having discussions with human service organizations and churches that offer food pantries or community meals - all have indicated that they would be thrilled to offer pet food through the BCHS food pantry on site at their events. We have the will and the way - we just need the means to get this program started. That is why you and your donation is so vital.
Please help us help others in your community, which in turn helps each and every pet that is able to stay with their beloved family, and be better fed and cared for because of this program.
